Geometry Dash

Certain characteristics make it possible to identify one of these so-called "dashers" in a crowd. They'll have a slanted phone and be continually Geometry Dash tapping on the screen. The addict, like a zombie, loses his or her humanity when "dashing". If you look attentively, you'll notice something missing from their eyes.

You must use caution while approaching one of these "dashers". If interrupted, they might strike out viciously. Whether it's verbal or physical abuse, it always ends poorly. I had firsthand experience when I unintentionally ran across Steele Riddle, an enthusiastic "dasher". He was ready to beat a level when I screwed him up, which enraged him and resulted in a barrage of abuse directed at me. 

Reeves Dobson, a CCES senior, is notorious for his terrible Geometry Dash addiction. Reeves is a full-blown junkie. Reeves spends an average of 4 hours and 17 minutes every day on screen. He has weakened and damaged his ties with family and friends. 

Things became emotional during an interview with Hutch Paddock, a lifelong friend of Reeves. He began to cry, demonstrating how deeply he was moved. Hutch says, "I just want to spend time with him, but he's always on his phone." He's an entirely different person. I want the Reeves I once knew to return. "I truly miss him." He also explained how terrible his addiction is. "He just plays one level, which he cannot defeat. He has made nearly 6000 tries at it. There are 6000 talks we could have had. I had to take a moment to compose myself throughout the interview because I was so emotional. When questioned about how Reeves' addiction made him feel, Hutch answered, "It makes me feel tiny and unimportant. It's as if I don't exist for him.
