Psoriasis can be described as a persistent autoimmune condition that leads to rapid proliferation of skin cells. It creates rough, thick red patches of scaling which can be painful and inflamed. The autoimmunity targets healthy skin cells. This results in a rapid increase in inflammation and cell replication that causes the formation of scaly spots, mostly appearing on knees, elbows and on the scalp. It's not contagious however, it could be a serious negative impact on the life of an individual and require a permanent solution for psoriasis.
